WHO WE ARE
The Agricultural University in Plovdiv was established in 1945. Even today it is the only specialized state-funded university in Bulgaria in the area of agricultural and life sciences of national, European and international high prestige.
The major structural units of the Agricultural University are the four faculties (Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Horticulture with Viticulture, Faculty of Plant Protection and Agroecology, Faculty of Economics) offering 20 Bachelor’s degree programmes, 34 Master’s degree courses and 28 doctoral programmes. The teaching process is organized in close collaboration with scientific investigations and practice for the efficient use of the resources.
Major research priorities:
- Genetic Resources in plant and animal breeding and new technological decisions related to global climate changes;
- Conservation of natural resources and the production of safe agricultural products;
- Sustainable land-use systems and rural development;
- Machinery and equipment for agricultural production and waste management.
WHAT WE DO IN STACCATO
The Agricultural University participates in almost all work packages within STACCATO, but more specifically the AU team will contribute to the multi-stakeholder consultation, provisioning services and integration.
